While we wish everyone could experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe in person, we understand that isn’t a possibility for many, especially right now. With that in mind, we still wanted to give you a chance to visit South Lake Tahoe (at least as close as possible), all from the comfort of your own home. Sit back, relax, and get ready to experience the magic of the Sierras — virtually!
Watch live webcams
While nothing can beat visiting Tahoe in person, Tahoe South, our local visitor’s authority, has some great webcams set up to allow you to check out what’s happening in the area in real-time from your computer or smartphone. They’ve got cams at Stateline, Timber Cove, and Sierra-at-Tahoe. You can easily check weather conditions and enjoy some amazing Tahoe views whenever you feel like it!
Do a Tahoe tasting at home
Lake Tahoe is known for our awesome breweries. Even if you can’t visit in person, you can still enjoy a little bit of Lake Tahoe right from your living room! Some of the local breweries, like South Lake Tahoe Brewing Co., will deliver their craft brews right to your door! If you’re not keen on beer, that’s OK too. Try ordering some Tahoe Blue Vodka or even a great California wine to enjoy at home.
Take a virtual tour
You can’t beat visiting Lake Tahoe in person, but there are some online virtual tour options you can check out. These fun and interactive tours are a great way to see what the area is like and do a little digital exploring until you’re able to visit in real life.
You can check out Xplorit for some great tours around South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Sierra at Tahoe, and more! You can scroll around, see the sights, and even experience the area at different times of the year.
Thanks to Tahoe South and Google Trekker, you can also check out amazing photographs and get an inside look of some of the most iconic views in the area, including Emerald Bay State Park, Castle Rock, Eagle Falls, and more!
Of course, there’s also a plethora of videos that give you a great view of Tahoe — just do a simple YouTube search! If you try real hard to feel the wind in your hair, it almost feels like you’re there. Here’s one of our favorites taking you on the Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster at Heavenly!
Update your Zoom background
While you may not be taking your amazing Tahoe vacation quite yet, that doesn’t mean you can’t keep dreaming! Check out these awesome Lake Tahoe Zoom backgrounds from Tahoe South! They’ve highlighted Kiva Beach, Van Sickle Bi-State Park, Heavenly Mountain, and the SnowGlobe Music Festival.
These video conferencing backgrounds are sure to put a smile on your face, spark conversation, and help you relax while you’re working from home. Maybe you can even convince your boss to plan your next meeting or corporate retreat in Tahoe!
Donate to a Tahoe organization
Despite the crazy and uncertain world we live in, the world is still turning. That means there’s still important work happening from organizations focused on making Tahoe a cleaner, safer, and better place now and in the future.
Everyone is struggling right now, and there’s no better way to truly experience the joy and magic of Lake Tahoe than by giving from your heart. If you’re able, donating to a local Lake Tahoe organization is a great way to give back and show your appreciation for this truly special area, even when you may be at a distance or not traveling right now.
