The event, which raises money for local and national charities, is owned and broadcast by NBC Sports. Participants span the gamut from sports legends to actors to musicians. This year’s incredible lineup of celebrity guests includes Ray Romano, Miles Teller, Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts, and Jordy Nelson. Guests will have the opportunity for autographs and photos.
4. Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival
Select dates in July – September
Warren Edward Trepp Stage at Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park

William Shakespeare once wrote that “all the world’s a stage,” and that’s definitely true at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. The organization honors the works of The Bard with fun outdoor theatrical experiences throughout the summer months, including a production of “The Taming of the Shrew” and the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program. In addition to producing professional productions of Shakespeare classics, the Festival’s Monday Night and Summer Encore Showcases highlights arts and culture organizations from around the area. Check out the full summer performance schedule.
5. Lights on the Lake Fireworks
July 4, 2019
We take our Fourth of July fireworks very seriously here in South Lake Tahoe. So serious, in fact, that our annual display has received national media exposure and been rated as one of the top five fireworks displays in the nation by The American Pyrotechnics Association. Pretty cool, right? Plus, our beautiful mountain views and sandy beaches make for prime firework viewing. Definitely worth coming to check it out and see what all the fuss is about.
6. Taste of Gold
July 20, 2019
Lake Tahoe Community College Ledbetter Terrace
One College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
If jazz music, local wines, and supporting students is your thing, then you won’t want to miss Taste of Gold at the Lake Tahoe Community College. Enjoy gourmet treats from around the lake, wine from El Dorado and Amador County, the musical stylings of the Josh Pfeiffer Band, and more. Proceeds support academic scholarships and programs, plus it’s a great way to experience a taste of what Lake Tahoe has to offer.
7. It’s Lake Tahoe
Do you really need a reason or special event to visit one of the most gorgeous, fun, and unique places on Earth? Of course not. The above is only a taste of the exciting events happening in and around Lake Tahoe this summer. We didn’t even get started on all the exciting recreational activities, like hiking, biking, swimming, boating, paddleboarding, hot air balloon rides, and so much more.
We don’t call Lake Tahoe a “year-round playground” for nothing. Trust us, once things start heating up, there’s no slowing us down. So, what are you waiting for? Visit one of Lake Tahoe’s best family-friendly hotels and come soak up the sun — Sierra style!
