After a lot of 2020 plans were dashed, we’re looking forward to 2021 with our fingers crossed and a lot of excitement. We’re ready to start planning some epic adventures and can’t wait to welcome more visitors back to Lake Tahoe in the new year. While we don’t know exactly what 2021 will hold, we’re optimistic that some of our favorite Lake Tahoe events will make a triumphant return this coming year. If you’re looking forward to traveling again and already dreaming of visiting South Tahoe, definitely add these events to your radar and Tahoe vacation itinerary!
TBD March-April 2021
Did you know spring is one of the best times to visit Lake Tahoe? Seriously. The temps are warming up but there’s still snow on the ground, which makes for perfect skiing conditions. That’s why we go crazy for Spring Loaded, a celebration of all things Tahoe! It’s a great time to visit because it’s weeks full of live music, Happy Hours, and great deals from local shops, restaurants, and hotels you’ll love.
Usually, Spring Loaded happens in March and early April when the temperatures get milder. Dates are still TBD for 2021, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.
June 5, 2021
Calling all beer lovers! The annual Tahoe Brewfest, is a great summer event that celebrates all our local craft breweries. You can sample beers from all our local favorites, including Lake Tahoe Aleworks and Sidellis Lake Tahoe.
Currently, the 2021 event is scheduled for June 5. If you want to join in the fun, be sure to plan to stay for a few days right here at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel because there’s usually pre- and post-event activities to keep the party going!
Summer Concert Series at Harvey’s
TBD June – September 2021
We’ve missed concerts and live music SO much — especially the Summer Concert Series at Harvey’s. The outdoor amphitheater, set against the stunning mountainscape, is amazing. Plus, they bring in some pretty awesome artists to perform throughout the summer (previous headliners included Tim McGraw, Duran Duran, Pentatonix, Lionel Richie, and more).
Honestly, no matter who is performing, it’s worth the trip and ticket price for the venue and the amazing Tahoe views! The 2021 concert series and lineup hasn’t been announced yet, but we are definitely longing for a summer of music again!
American Century Celebrity Golf Championship
July 6-11, 2021
The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship is one of our favorite events of the entire year. The week-long, 54-hole golf tournament at Edgewood Golf Course features 80 professional athletes and some well-known celebrities (Ray Romano, Aaron Rodgers, Chase Crawford are just a few who’ve appeared in the past). Did we mention it raises money for charity? It’s a lot of fun!
The 2021 tournament is currently scheduled for this summer and we’re looking forward to joining in the excitement and spending some time out on the green come July.
Sample the Sierra
TBD September 2021
Who doesn’t love to eat? Sample the Sierra is a must-visit for travelers (and locals too). It allows you to experience some of the best restaurants, chefs, artists, and makers in Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area all at once! The special farm-to-fork festival at Bijou Community Park features food, shopping, special tastings, and more.
We’ve missed eating out regularly, so we’re looking forward to the return of this tasting event. The 2021 event dates (and whether it will be virtual or in person) and participants are still TBD, but we know it’s going to be good. Previous participants include Beach Retreat and Lodge, Cold Water Brewery & Grill, Primo’s Italian Bistro, and other great Tahoe dining spots!
TBD December 2021
While the typical holiday festivities at Heavenly Village are limited this year, we’re hoping they can get back in full swing next year. The holiday season is truly magical in Tahoe, and the special Christmas movie screenings, tree lightings, holiday pub crawl, and après ski celebrations make it totally Tahoe.
While there are sure to be some Christmas festivities going on during the holiday season, stay tuned for all the details when planning for 2021!
What are you excited about in 2021?
There’s always something going on in Lake Tahoe, which is why we call it a “year-round playground,” so there’s never a “bad” time to visit. We are so excited to gather safely once more and enjoy all the fun events, food, and recreational activities that Tahoe has to offer together. Here’s to an awesome 2021! We can’t wait to see you!
